Hazelnut Hot Chocolate

Prep time: 10 min, Cook time: 20 min

Whip up this decadent, chocolatey treat using a mixture of hazelnuts, cacao powder, and dates. Cozy up and enjoy on a cold winter's day.

Servings: 5-7

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hazelnuts (raw, unsoaked)
  • ¼ cup cacao powder
  • 2-3 chopped, pitted dates or 2-3 tbsp maple syrup
  • pinch of sea salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Step 2

Place raw hazelnuts onto a lined baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes until hazelnuts are lightly colored and skins are blistered.

Step 3

Once hazelnuts have cooled, transfer them with the dates, cacao powder, and sea salt into the filter basket. Attach the filter basket to the top of the Milk Maker and twist in the direction of the close arrow to secure.

Step 4

Fill the Milk Maker base to the MIN line (5 cups) with water, add maple syrup if not using dates. Attach the top.

Step 5

Plug in the Milk Maker and press the cow start button. It will run through 3 automatic stages. When the green light stops flashing, it is complete!

Step 6

To serve hot, heat milk in a small pot over medium-high heat. Store any leftovers in an airtight container or milk jug in the refrigerator for up to three days.
