My only question is how do I get ALL of these things in the little basket?? I can hardly fit anything, the only downside of the almond cow.
Hey Alisha, Great question! This milk is actually made in two parts. For the first part, you will add the oat, pecans, and dates into the basket and process the milk. Once this cycle is done you will remove the top, empty the filter basket, then add the rest of the ingredients and process again. The liquid in the base will stay the same for both cycles. 🙂
I like this milk! Vanilla powder probably would have made it more decadent, but using vanilla extract in it was great.
Hi! I liked the flavour of this milk. However I had some difficulties:
1) I could not easily close the filter basket and struggled to lock it. I faced this in both the parts – with pecan, oats, dates and then the other ingredients too.
1) After the 3 cycles got done IN BOTH parts – i noticed there was lots left in the filter basket. So had to use my nut milk bag to squeeze it out.
Kindly let me know where I am going wrong.
Thank you
Hi Shruti, Thank you for reaching out.
Here are additional instructions:
-Keep the ingredients around the 1 cup line, which is marked on the outside of the basket.
-Hold the top of the Almond Cow in your non-dominant hand, with the filter basket in your dominant hand.
-Hold the Almond Cow and filter basket sideways, tilted so the ingredients make a bit of room for the blade.
-Inset the blade on the side with fewer ingredients. (Please note, if there are dates in the basket, please place the dates towards one side of the basket and ensure the blade enters the basket away from the dates. They can stick to the blade making the basket difficult to close.)
-Slightly wiggle the basket up and into place.
-Once the filter basket is flush with the top of the Almond Cow, twist the basket to the left (in the direction of the close arrow) until it is snug in place.
We also suggest using the plastic collector cup as leverage to help hold and twist the filter basket closed. With the pulp, we do suggest letting it drain for a few minutes in the collector cup. If you prefer you can press it out with the back of a spoon in the filter basket.
Thank you so much for the suggestions.
I tried it the way you have mentioned above and it worked fine. Just another question – are we to attach the collector cup and put that also inside the machine and then run the cycle ?
You’re welcome, Shruti! The collector cup is not use inside the machine with this recipe.
Can we use rolled oats instead of whole grain?
Yes, you can use rolled oats instead of whole grain oats.
