  1. I wouldn’t think shredded coconut would have enough to extract anything. Any particular kind of Coconut we should be looking for?

Though I’m not opposed to learning how to open my own Coconut 🙂

    1. Hi there! We’ve found coconut shreds work great but you are welcome to use coconut flakes, chunks or coconut meat as well!

  2. So I followed this recipe and at 500ml there is not enough liquid for the machine to work. All I got was a hot filter basket.

    1. Hi Justin! We’re sorry to know this happened. The collector cup will be filled to the 500ml mark and then the cup is placed into the base of the machine with no other water added.

    1. We have a few tips to help make creamy milk.
      1. Use warm water in the base of the machine.
      2. Run the Almond Cow through two cycles. With this suggestion, you can also remove the ingredients in the filter basket after the Almond Cow has completed its first cycle and replace it with new ingredients but leave the milk in the base of the machine. Press the cow button and run the machine through a second cycle.
      3. You could also try the collector cup method when making milk. It makes less milk but is creamier. How this is done is you will, fill the collector cup to the 500ml line with water and set it in the base of the machine (no other water is added to the machine). Then fill the filter basket with your ingredients as usual and place the top onto the machine and blend.

  3. Recently got our first almond cow and today was the maiden run. Pretty happy with it. I’ll need to take some of these tips into account in the future. Something I’m wondering about is, do you have anything specifically designed to “squeeze/compress” the remainder of liquid from the pulp in the filter basket after it’s finished?

    1. Hi Joseph,

Thank you for reaching out and for the suggestion. We do not have anything like that at this time. We suggest using the back of the spoon and pressing out the pulp in the basket while it is in the collector cup.

    2. I use a small mesh strainer and it works great. I use a spoon and move it around and it doesn’t take much time.

  4. Hi, I made the coconut creamer by running two cycles and I am very happy with it; however, I’m wondering if I could make it even creamier by leaving the coconut milk in the canister (instead of filling with water) and refreshing the basket with 1 cup of fresh shredded coconut and running it that way?

    1. Hi Eluethro! Yes, you can leave the coconut milk in the base and add fresh ingredients in the filter basket and run again.

  5. im using my new machine for the first time. It came out very watery and the chopped dates were left at the bottom? I also had a bit of an explosion first run and seems like I punctured the filter basket which I will need to get replaced…???

  6. Are you not supposed to put this creamer in the fridge? I put mine in the fridge and the fat solidified and never un-solidified even though I left it out of the fridge overnight… I kept trying to stir it to get the fat to mix back in but I think I would have had to heat it up in order for it to fully mix back together. How am I supposed to store it if it solidifies in the fridge?

  7. Tastes great! This is creamier than the almond creamer. If you do half almond/half coconut, it will have a great texture.

  8. I was hoping I could replace the coconut milk I’ve used for years with the Almond Cow but I can seem to get my milk creamy. Any suggestions on the best way to make this more creamy? I tried using less water and I didn’t get any milk.

    1. Hi Nicole! Here are some tips to help make creamier milk:
Use warm water in the base of the machine (we do not recommend using warm water with oats as it can create slimy milk).
Run the Almond Cow through two cycles. With this suggestion, you will remove the ingredients in the filter basket after the Almond Cow has completed its first cycle and replace it with new ingredients but leave the milk in the base of the machine. Press the cow button and run the machine through a second cycle. Please do not do this more than 3 times consecutively.

You could also try the creamer method when making milk. It makes less milk but is creamier. Here is a blog post about this method, https://almondcow.co/blogs/…

  9. Hi there! I’m kind of confused since in the recipe, you use the term « 500 mL line » but in my Almond Cow, it’s either MIN or MAX. No 500mL line. At first, I tried to put 500mL of water and it wasn’t touching the basket filter… I tried this recipe with the MIN line with warm water, one cycle, and it’s a transparent liquid. Would you mind telling me what I didn’t get ? Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi Annie! We’re sorry for the confusion. For this Coconut Creamer recipe the plastic collector cup is used, following Step 2. “Add warm water (around 115F) to the 500mL line in the collector cup. Add the sea salt (optional) to the water. Place collector cup inside the Almond Cow base (no other water is added to the machine). Attach the top.”

You can also make coconut milk using warm water to the MIN line as you did. We recommend the coconut shreds be at or below the 1 cup line marked on the filter basket so they can get blended properly. The machine should run through 3 grinding cycles and one the light on top stops flashing the milk is ready. Hope this helps. You can always contact us at info@almondcow.co and we’d be happy to further assist you!

    1. Yes! We recommend to store the coconut creamer in an air-tight container/bottle in the fridge. You may need to warm it up shortly before use to melt any clumps. Cheers!
